Vanessa is a seasoned, globally recognized leader at the intersection of intellectual property, AI, and data law, policy, and regulation. With extensive experience spanning litigation, licensing, legislation, and transactional work both domestically and internationally, she brings a rare combination of legal and technical expertise to some of the most complex challenges in global technology law and policy. 

Growing up Native American and African American in rural Texas, Vanessa witnessed firsthand how the digital divide shaped opportunity for certain communities, and that experience became a driving force in her career. She earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and her Legal Masters or LLM degree from the University of London, setting the foundation for a career that would take her across the worlds of law, business, and government. 

 From Jones Day to leading IP litigation at Nokia Siemens Networks, heading global IP policy at Intel, and most recently serving as Head of Patent Policy at Amazon, Vanessa has spent her career working with some of the world's most innovative companies. Earlier this year, she launched Orenda Strategies LLC, where she now helps businesses navigate the rapidly evolving convergence of intellectual property, AI, and data regulation.
